This is Dr Bob’s quiz for September 2013 – please give your answers to this quiz by posting a comment. But as I already know the answers, I prefer to see witty or sarcastic comments! I will moderate the postings to avoid spam (and abuse), but I will try to do that quickly. The real answers will appear in October.

  1. DR BOB’s REAL ANSWERS –
    1. Ringo liked British food – mainly cornflakes and baked beans – so he brought supplies with him. The baked beans ran out.
    2. Nobody remembers; there must have been some sort of frantic consensus behind the scenes.
    3. James Bond – in Diamonds are Forever (1970). Might have improved the film over what eventually came out.
    4. Playing Chess, a new fad at the time
    5. The Bible – King James Version

  2. • The four Beatles went to India with the Maharishi, but Ringo lasted only 10 days before he returned to the UK. What made him come back so early?

He fell out with Bungalow Bill and challenged him to a fight. Why don’t we do it in the road and I’ll make you Cry Baby Cry. I Will, said Bill, but I’m so tired. Don’t pass me by or there will be a Revolution like the one Back in the USSR and it will be a Long long long time before Dear Prudence calls you Sexy Sadie again fumed Ringo.
Or maybe he just got the shits and remembered he had left the iron on.

    • The Swiss entry won the first Eurovision Song Contest, in 1956. How was the result decided?

In an early example of spot betting, the contest was rigged by Swiss R&B band, Gnomes of Zurich and the voting sheets have been hidden in a secret bank account, to be franc.

    • What major film role was offered to Adam West after the 1960s Batman TV series?

Leading man in: Carry on Up the Batpole, Robin’s Hood, To the Wayne Manor Born, Camp X-Ray. Or maybe Of Human Bond Age.

    • Why was the harvest of Western Poland not gathered, in 1739?
